Milestone Systems IP Video Learn & Earn Forum gathers partners from 27 countries.

Milestone Systems, the global market leader for open platform IP video surveillance software, held their second international symposium for channel partners that gathered 120 people from 27 countries in Copenhagen for the 3-day event. Participants heard from leaders in the security industry, as well as Milestone's own experts, got hands-on product demonstrations, and networked with peers.

Milestone Systems hosted a second successful international event for partners called the Milestone IP Video Learn & Earn Forum 2006. The first such event was in Miami, Florida, in February of this yead, and this one was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the company headquarters reside. The activities ensured an interesting three days for the participants. In the spirit of the open platform that Milestone IP software products encompass, the event focused on networking and sharing knowledge between business and technology partners about IP surveillance solutions that exist today, those in the works, and those to be created in the future.

Milestone is a pioneer in the convergence of IT and the security industry, and therefore attracts forward-thinking partners who embrace this commitment. The company's open platform IP video software allows integration of security and business systems to provide greater flexibility and efficiency for increased safety, quality and risk management. Partner conferences like this one act as important focal points for sharing information and lifting up knowledge levels to new plateaus of expertise. This in turn carries an exponential ripple effect out to the market, where customers benefit from the latest in new concepts and technology.

The Milestone partners attending the forum learned from IP video industry experts, heard the latest IP video news, experienced first-hand product demonstrations, participated in workshops, improved both technical and sales skills, and networked with international peers. Many of the partners also took advantage of additional certification training offered by Milestone on their top-of-the-line product, XProtect Enterprise.

With the overall theme of R.O.I. (Return On Investment), the Milestone IP Video Learn & Earn Forum 2006 was hosted by Milestone management, and lead developers presented the latest product plans.

Illustrious speakers included Simon Harris, IMS Research Manager of Security & ID, presenting on the topic ‘Software - a Key IP Video Growth Enabler'. Bob Beliles, EMTG, Cisco Systems, talked about ‘Infrastructure and IP Video - Big Business'. IPVS Editor-in-Chief Keven Marier related ‘The True Costs and Returns of IP Video'. These last two agreed on one important message: bandwidth is NOT a problem with IP video solutions!

Two of Milestone Systems' Solutions Partners presented how their products integrate with XProtect software's open platform. Ed Troha, Marketing Director of ObjectVideo answered the question ‘How Intelligent Can Video Become?' and Phil Mailes, Director EMEA for S2 Security Corporation, talked about ‘Access Control - In Through the Out Door.'

Since Milestone software offers independent support of hundreds of hardware models from 30 manufacturers - a fact that allows partners and customers true freedom of choice in their security installations - the company has excellent relationships with the producers of network cameras and video encoders. A number of these also presented at the Milestone partner forum. Dominic Bruning, EMEA Marketing Director for Axis Communications discussed the topic ‘IT and Security: Channel Convergence or Co-existence?'. Jan Bart-Mul, CCTV Applications & Business Development Specialist for Bosch, revealed ‘IP is it! Confessions from an Analog Past'. Martijn Kolenbrander, Sales Manager Europe for IQinVision, enlightened on the subject ‘Maximizing Megapixels Marvelously'. Lee Elliot, EMEA Security Products Manager for JVC, shared thoughts on ‘To Box or Not To Box: Network Video Recorders'. Simon Nash, European Product Manager for Network Video Monitoring CCTV at Sony, expounded on ‘IP Video, Intelligent Images and Income'.

A number of these speakers joined in a group panel discussion on the last day of the event for a ‘SWOT Analysis of the IP Video Industry: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats'. All agreed that education is of utmost importance in moving forward the convergence of IP in security.

The event was held at the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel, who also spoke to the audience about their security installations based on Milestone XProtect IP video management software. Two other customers, IKEA and Carlsberg, shared the benefits they are reaping from Milestone IP video, as well.

"We were extremely pleased to gather so many of our global partners at the Milestone IP Video Learn & Earn Forum 2006, where we continued to chart our course together for driving the convergence of IT and physical security, says Lars Thinggaard, President and CEO at Milestone Systems.
