BAE SYSTEMS AUSTRALIA AWARDED AP-3C AVIONICS SUPPORT CONTRACT

BAE SYSTEMS Australia Customer Solutions & Support (CS&S) has signed a three-year contract with the Commonwealth of Australia to provide off-aircraft maintenance support for various avionics systems introduced onto the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) AP-3C maritime patrol aircraft.

This includes Intermediate Level Maintenance (ILM) and Deeper Level Maintenance (DLM) of the ELTA Radar System, the Intercommunications System (ICS), Sonobouy Receiver System and other systems.

The Air 5276 program upgraded the P-3C Orion to an AP-3C Orion, resulting in a major upgrade to the aircraft's combat systems. This introduced a number of new Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) requiring support.

"The support solution for the AP-3C avionics equipment has been developed in an Integrated Product Team environment with Maritime Patrol Systems Program Office personnel and is the culmination of many months of dedicated work by the team," said Jim Hanson, General Manager - Product & Support Group, BAE SYSTEMS Australia.

"This contract provides a value for money support solution to RAAF and positions BAE SYSTEMS for a major role in the upcoming AP-3C support commercialisation programme," he said.

BAE SYSTEMS Australia will undertake the work in the Avionics Workshop at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia.
