WDL AVIATION ACQUIRES FURTHER BAe 146-200 FOR AIR BERLIN OPERATION

German carrier WDL Aviation of Cologne has acquired a further BAe 146-200 from BAE SYSTEMS Regional Aircraft, bringing its fleet of the type to five (one Series 100, three Series 200 and one Series 300).

This latest Series 200 (E2055) was previously in service with Malmö Aviation and has been added to join most of the airline's other BAe 146s that are now operating on behalf of German charter and cityshuttle carrier, Air Berlin.

These aircraft operate from three bases in Germany where either the runway length is too short for Air Berlin's Boeing 737-400/800 fleet or traffic volumes are too low for the bigger aircraft.

The three Series 200s operate from Mönchen Gladbach (1200m runway), Paderborn and Dortmund with the Series 300 also operating from Dortmund. From these bases, the aircraft fly to a number of German destinations and also internationally to Bergamo, London (Stansted), Vienna and Zurich.

WDL Aviation's BAe 146-100 is flown on behalf of Airbus, providing a company shuttle service between the plants at Hamburg/Finkenwerder and Toulouse.
