General Dynamics Land Systems - Australia Selected to Compete for Land 121 Ph4 - Protected Mobility Vehicle
(Light)

General Dynamics Land Systems-Australia is among three Australian manufacturers to be given a chance to compete for a contract called Land 121 Ph4, potentially worth more than $1 billion, for the manufacture of the next generation of protected mobility vehicles for the Australian Defence Force. Greg Combet, Minister for Defence Materiel and Science, recently announced, "Three Australian-based companies will be awarded up to $9 million each for the development of protected mobility vehicle prototypes, putting them in the running to land a manufacturing contract for up to 1300 vehicles."

General Dynamics Land Systems-Australia will lead the global resources of General Dynamics to transfer innovation, skills, technology and facilities through an integrated solution based on the 4x4 EAGLE Protected Mobility Vehicle - Light (PMV-L). The General Dynamics EAGLE exceeds all Commonwealth requirements for technical performance and will be fully releasable for in country production in Australia.

Gary Stewart, managing director of General Dynamics Land Systems-Australia, stated, "A locally manufactured and supported EAGLE represents reduced technical and schedule risk through the supply of a combat-proven family of vehicles with high coalition force interoperability and low through-life costs. This Commonwealth initiative provides a great opportunity for General Dynamics Land Systems-Australia to demonstrate these benefits."

Participation in Land 121 Ph4 during the production and sustainment phases may create up to 250 direct jobs and will allow Australian suppliers to enter the General Dynamics global supply chain, which has been responsible for the delivery of approximately 15,000 military vehicles, creating genuine export opportunities for Australian industry.
