Smiths Detection's Checked Baggage Scanner Gains Key EU Approval
Smiths Detection today announces that its high-speed explosives detection scanner for hold baggage, HI-SCAN 10080 EDX-2is, has gained EU Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) Standard 2 approval under a crucial new program.
Compliance under the new Common Evaluation Program (CEP) for deployment in the EU means that strict image quality and detection performance standards for automatic evaluation have been met. Approval, mandatory for all EU members, followed lengthy testing procedures under the auspices of ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference).

HI-SCAN 10080 EDX-2is joins Smiths Detection's HI-SCAN 10080 EDtS on the list of hold baggage screeners to have achieved EDS Standard 2 in accordance with the CEP.
10080 EDX-2is represents the latest advances in hold baggage screening in a compact system layout. The dual view capacity allows the operator effectively to ‘look behind' objects in the baggage resulting in far fewer rejected bags that require re-inspection.
