DuPontâ„¢ Kevlar® invest in Indian market
Best known for use in bullet-resistant applications, DuPontâ„¢ Kevlar® has long been protecting the protectors all over the world. Committed to "Protecting the Protectors" with customized armoring solutions, DuPontâ„¢ Kevlar® has invested in a world class facility, DuPont Ballistic Research Center in Hyderabad, India with an objective of bringing its global science capabilities to develop solutions for local needs. First of its kind, not only in India but for complete Asia Pacific region, this facility houses industry - best ballistic protection research scientists, with facilities of material sampling, design and development, prototyping, testing and post testing analytics all under one roof enabling faster development of customized ballistic solutions.
The facility is capable of firing bullets via appropriate barrels; and testing of body armors and helmets as per all leading test protocols. The DuPont Ballistic Research Center is also equipped with a stab and spike tester, along with a variety of knives and spikes, enabling testing aligned with NIJ or HOSOB protocols. Apart from a ballistic firing range, the research center is also equipped with pilot scale helmets and insert plates manufacturing, using hydraulic presses and autoclave, range of analytics capabilities and also with qualified and experienced ballistic experts.
Apart from investments in ballistic protection research and development capabilities, DuPontâ„¢ Kevlar® is also supporting, "Make in India" program of the Government of India by establishing a local downstream operation for weaving Kevlar® in India. Having this facility in India is a testimony of the long term commitment of DuPont to the Indian defense industry as it will help cut down the time required for the defense forces and law enforcement agencies in India to get the protection equipment and will also usher innovation and customized products for Indian forces.
