Leicestershire is latest UK police force to renew its Sepura TETRA radios
Leicestershire Constabulary, one of Sepura's first-ever major customers, has renewed its contract for the supply of TETRA digital radios. Leicestershire has decided to replace nearly 2500 hand-held TETRA radios and, for the first time, to add Sepura vehicle radios to its fleet of communication equipment.
Among the first to migrate from analogue to TETRA in 2002, Leicestershire joins the growing number of UK police forces that are in the process of upgrading their Sepura radios, to meet new and increasing operational demands.
The county has more than 2,300 officers and 1200 support staff based at 26 police stations, serving a diverse population of one million, which embraces rural, large town and inner city communities.
"It is an important step forward for us having both Sepura hand-held and vehicle radios, and this will simplify the training and management processes of the radios," said Gary Lewis, the force's Senior Communications Analyst, who is responsible for its technical and service management of the radios.
"Over the last six years Sepura has met our needs, both in terms of the performance of the products and customer support. During this time we've had a first-class working relationship, which we're very happy to continue,"
Andy Gregory, Sepura's Regional Director responsible for the UK and Ireland, added: "I am delighted with this new order from one of our oldest customers. It is a reflection of our product quality, product innovation and the market-leading customer support that we provide."
