Sepura radios assist new Doha airport in Qatar

Construction companies working on the New Doha International Airport in Qatar are using Sepura TETRA digital radios, for their communications on key projects which include the main terminal buildings, runways and oil storage tanks.

A series of orders for radios was secured by Consolidated Gulf Company, Sepura's partner in the Middle East state, to provide the radios, which allow managers and workers to communicate instantly and clearly, helping construction work to progress more efficiently.

The airport is scheduled to open in 2010, with an anticipated annual capacity of 24 million passengers, a three-fold increase on the current traffic, which will eventually rise to catering for up to 50 million.

Nikolaos Rigas, Deputy Project Manager at ADCC, a joint venture of construction companies at the airport, said: "This advanced communication system is fast, efficient and easy to operate. It coordinates and links our staff easily, at any time, providing a valuable support for us, especially in communicating quickly during any emergency at the project sites."

Anil Mahajan, Head - Business Development, at CGC, which supplied the radios, added: "CGC is determined and committed to offer total technology solutions to vital sectors in Qatar, including the supply of Sepura TETRA radios to the construction, transport management, oil and gas, security services, hospitals and other emergency services."

Emanuele Algieri, Sepura's Regional Sales Director, added: "These sales orders illustrate the growth of Sepura in the Middle East, and the increasing benefit of TETRA to the commercial sector."
