Sepura takes off in India at new Bangalore airport
In Sepura's first sales win in India, TETRA digital radios have been supplied to the new Bengaluru International Airport in Bangalore.
Built at a cost of $560 million, the airport will handle 11 million passengers a year, rising eventually to 50 million. Its construction is part of an overall strategy of airport development in the sub-continent, to meet the rapid increase in demand for air travel.
The radios provide communication for many facets of the airport, such as baggage handling, fuel supply, maintenance, catering, immigration, customs and security and integrate with other IT and communication systems within the airport.
The order for SRH3500 hand-held and SRM3500 in-vehicle radios was secured by Nokia Siemens Networks, a Sepura partner and distributor in India.
Kevin Graham, Regional Sales Director for Sepura in Asia Pacific, emphasised the importance of the sales win. "It marks our first footprint in India and is set to lead substantial growth in business in the country. The sales win reflects our outstanding track record in supplying airports. In fact, it is one of the first airports in India to use TETRA."
The order includes Sepura's Radio Manager which automatically configures the functionality and group profile of the radios.
