IXSEA have launched ROVINS, a combined survey grade gyrocompass and full featured Inertial Navigation System (INS) for depths to 3,000 m.

Designed specifically for offshore survey and construction activities, ROVINS can significantly improve the efficiency of all operations, surface or subsea, requiring accurate position, heading and attitude information.

ROVINS builds upon the company's proven OCTANS gyrocompass and PHINS INS architecture and offers interfaces to standard surface and subsea positioning and aiding sensors. ROVINS integral web based configuration software offers an instant interface via any web browser.

IXSEA's unique state of the art Fibre Optic Gyroscope (FOG) and ‘strap-down' inertial technology makes ROVINS both highly robust and truly maintenance free. The company's inertial navigation capability, well proven over many years in applications both surface and subsea, has been further refined.

"The launch of ROVINS is an important milestone in IXSEA's engineering development, and is a response to the market's increasing demand for INS positioning solutions," said IXSEA President, Thierry Gaiffe. "ROVINS provides an upgrade path from ‘gyro only mode' to ‘ROVINS full INS', which offers users improved flexibility in their operations. This allows IXSEA to reposition the market leading OCTANS Subsea Gyro."
