QinetiQ and BAE Systems partner to develop and advance technology

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between QinetiQ, its US affiliate QinetiQ Inc, and BAE Systems to share electronic surveillance and processing technologies. The MOU will also permit the companies to identify and work jointly toward developing system applications in future partnering opportunities in the US and UK.

"QinetiQ is actively engaged with a number of companies on both sides of the Atlantic to investigate new routes to exploit its wide range of technologies," stated Andrew Sleigh, QinetiQ's MD Defence. "We view this agreement with BAE Systems as a route to explore areas of synergy to the benefit of our customers. Our success in winning the SHAMAN programme in the UK was the first example of where we brought technology from the two companies together, and we are now looking at other programmes and technology domains."

"Both BAE Systems and QinetiQ invest heavily in developing and advancing technologies," said Larrie Cable, BAE Systems vice president of Information Dominance Systems at the Hudson, New Hampshire facility. "By bringing together our technologies and people we are able to offer improved products at reduced cost and risk to our customers."

QinetiQ is currently partnered with BAE Systems for the advanced demonstration phase of Project Shaman - a UK MOD programme to provide a robust Communications Electronic Support Measures capability to the Royal Navy.

The relationship between BAE Systems and QinetiQ is being reinforced with additional opportunities being identified in addition to the continued joint performance of the team under the Shaman contract.
