THE APPOINTMENT OF A NEW TECHNICAL DIRECTOR AT BRITTEN-NORMAN

2006 sees the introduction of a number of new key team members at the world renowned British aircraft manufacturer, Britten-Norman Aircraft Limited. The first of these appointments has Jeremy Liber joining as Technical Director.

Jeremy's fresh thinking and innovative solutions will bring great strength to the Company's EASA Part 21 Design Organisation during a period in which the firm has seen a meteoric rise in sales and sales prospects for its Defender 4000 homeland security and counter-terrorism surveillance aircraft.

With more than 20 years experience in the field of aircraft design, modifications and structural analysis, Jeremy has utilised his expert knowledge of the UK CAA and EASA to play an integral part in the development design processes for companies such as Alan Mann and McAlpine Helicopters. During his previous role as Chief Designer for Gloucester based Police Aviation Services, he was responsible for implementing a new CAD based system which was used to deliver complex structural and systems based modifications under Part 21 sub-part J to both fixed-wing and rotary platforms.

As both a pilot and an engineer, Jeremy brings together an understanding of the challenges of aircraft design with the needs of the aircraft operator. Complementing this, his MBA has taught him of the importance of meeting the customer's requirements cost effectively whilst simultaneously achieving the right results for the business.

"Britten-Norman has offered me an extremely interesting position as Technical Director of the UK's only independent commercial aircraft manufacturer and I'm thrilled to be given this rare opportunity. It is a great responsibility and privilege to be heading up the team that holds the Type Certificate for such a famous and important aircraft commented Jeremy Liber.

Britten-Norman's Group Chief Executive, William Hynett, said "We are really pleased to have Jeremy Liber on board. Jeremy has some exciting plans that will bring a new impetus to the Islander and Defender aircraft, including cockpit and instrumentation upgrades as well as additional airframe features which we hope will extend to a floatplane variant. At the same time he has plans to help Britten-Norman focus on its key skills by offering both its manufacturing and systems integration services to a wider selection of aircraft platforms, including helicopters. We wish Jeremy every success in his new role.
