Finland's Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority selects Sepura

The Radiation and Nuclear safety Authority of Finland (STUK) has chosen Sepura mobile TETRA radios for country-wide deployment. This contract was won in conjunction with Insalko, Sepura's official partner in Finland.

Sepura's SRM3500 mobile radios will be used for a SCADA application in the STUK's radiation measurement stations. STUK will deploy the radios throughout Finland in three distinct phases; the first installation will take place in west Finland in May-June this year; followed by the installations in the east and north of the country in autumn 2006 and early 2007 respectively.

After extensive tests and comparison against competitors' products, the SRM3500 mobile TETRA radio proved to be the best product for the radiation measurement stations.

The mobile radios were chosen because they offer 2 serial data ports, which STUK will require for SDS messages and packet data respectively. Ease of use, reliable communication and the console-less option were also important factors contributing towards the final purchasing decision.

"Our decision to buy Sepura products came after an extensive evaluation of all the TETRA terminals available on the market. We selected Sepura's TETRA terminals because they are built to an excellent specification said Kaj Vesterbacka Inspector for STUK.

"We are delighted to have been selected by STUK to supply TETRA products for this very important project. It shows that Sepura products meet the stringent requirements needed in many different safety arenas commented Kenneth Hubner, Regional Director of Sepura.
